The recipient was discharged by purchase at Portsmouth in 1886 having paid the sum of 10 to secure his discharge Issued on the Adjutant General's list 104 of 1881 UNNAMED AS ISSUED. Numbered B-165357 to the reverse The recipient was serving with the 1st battalion of the Notts & Derby regiment when he was first reported as missing in Cyrenacia 20-6-1942.He was then confirmed as both wounded & a prisoner of war in German hands.He became P.O.W number 226066 in camp 4D at Torgau in Saxony N.E.F with a minor ek to the rim. He was 32 years of age at the time of his death & is recorded by the C.W.G.C as the late husband of Mary Ibbetson of 20 Tees Street, Chopwell, County Durham. Excellent WW1 set and French Medaille Militaire, very pleased with both. He is entitled to the August to November clasp for the ribbon of his 1914 Star but this is missing from the group.
